Google Android OS leads on Market Share

Mobile news presents… Comscore announced that Google Android OS leads on market shares and ranked no. 1 then followed by Apple’s iOS, RIM (Research in Motion), Microsoft and Symbian. According to the IT research firm, Comscore that Google’s Android OS has earned a market share of 46.9 percent within its three-month period which was ended last November, 2011 and more over 3.1 percent points from the previous three-month period.

On the second rank, Apple’s iOS still on its position having 28.7 percent of the market share and 1.4 percent points earned. While the Blackberry maker, Research in Motion ranked third placer earning 16.6 shares, Microsoft on the fourth place with 5.2 percent and Symbian earned 1.5 percent of market share according to Comscore research mobile news.

Over 234 million Americans use Mobile phones aging 13 years old and older while 91.4 million Americans are using smartphones within the three-month period that ended last November and only 8 percent from the previous three-month period.

For device manufacturers, Samsung ranked as the top OEM and leads the market gaining 25.6 percent of US mobile subscribers with 0.3 percent points. LG on the second rank with 20.5 percent shares, Motorola on the third with 13.7 percent shares and Apple on the fourth with 11.2 percent share with 1.4 percent points. RIM ranked on the fifth place earning 6.5 shares.

Study shows that 72.6 percent of US mobile subscribers used text messaging with 2.1 percent points. 44.9 percent for downloading applications with 3.3 percent points, 44.4 percent for browsing with 2.3 percent points. 33 percent for social networking sites like Facebook, tweeter and blog sites with 2.1 percent points. Gaming on mobile phones earned 29.7 percent with 1.2 percent points and 21.7 for listening music on mobile phones with 1.0 percent points.

The survey was conducted within the three-month which was ended last November, 2011 and was basing on the US mobile phone industry involving US mobile subscribers. About 30, 000 US mobile subscribers use Samsung which ranked Samsung as the top handset with 25.6 percent of market shares.

According to Comscore’s recent ‘importance of social networking site’ studies that users are just adding to the steady growth of social-networking sites. Facebook still remains as the number 1 US social networking market gaining 166 million visitors in November. Facebook gained 37 percent increase from the previous year of time usage per person. About 6.6 hours per person who used Facebook during November. Tweeter ranked number 2 with 35.4 million visitors and 35 million visitors for LinkedIn.
