Google Released Digital Magazine for Mobile Devices

Google decided to join an already crowded group of companies providing digital content in a magazine-like format for mobile devices.

The leader in Internet search now also has its own version, named as “Currents.” It functions on computer tablets and smartphones running in Android software of Google as well as in operating system of Apple and its iPad and iPhone.

Current, being the latest addition to the stiff competition, must catch up to one of the most establish applications on the iPad and to Zite of Time Warner Inc.’s CNN. Livestand of Yahoo Inc. has been released last month and also gaining a substantial market share.

According to Google, over 150 publishers already agreed to supply material to Currents including PBS, Forbes, Huffington Post and AllThingsD. (c) 2011
