Mobile news: 3G and 4G smartphones will be sold-out by more than 50%

ABI researcher reported that 3G and 4G capable smartphones will be sold-out by more than 50% by this year.

According to ABI research Vice President Jake Saunders that, “As the festive cheer of the holiday season dies away, the mood among handset vendors remains quietly confident regarding 2012…The outlook will yield growth in the order of 8%, netting 1.67 billion handsets shipped worldwide by the end of 2012. Particularly notable is for the first time, 3G and 4G handset shipments will capture more than 50% of total handsets shipped.”

Samsung will persist on pushing its smartphone into promising market while Apple is aiming to hit South America and Brazil and looking forward to succeed in China than India according to ABI research.
Mobile Devices Vice President and Practice Director Kevin Burden stated that, “North America may only represent 15% of feature and smartphone units shipped globally, but due to the high proportion of high-end smartphone sales, it constitutes 40% of total smartphones sold by value. It underscores what is at stake in the patent battles between Apple, Samsung, Motorola, Google, HTC, Microsoft, and even British Telecom,”

Smartphones has been an essential need in North America despite from its debt crisis. Over 288 million handsets were shipped in North America last year with a year-on-year of 14% growth which was the highest Year-on-year growth in the region for more than five years.
