About Windows Phone 7.5 Mango |Mobile News

We all know that Microsoft had been leading the market share before. We already heard of Apple and Google used Windows Mobile on full touch-screen smartphones which were ahead of the curve in stylus era. Microsoft was outcast in the market when smartphones begun to conquer the industry. It was surveyed that most of the population tend to buy smartphones than desktops.

And since Microsoft learned from the past, Microsoft entered the smartphone industry introducing its mobile operating system, Windows Phone 7. Its first version was released in the late 2010 then two updates were released by the following year. Windows Phone 7 was inspired by different concepts and the newest version “Mango” is faster and equipped with over 500 new features. Nokia now has a partner in terms of operating system.

The Interface
Apple has its homescreen full of applications while Google has its multiple homescreen which allows a user to add more applications.

Far way different from two giant interface maker, Windows Phone 7 has its own well-designed Metro User Interface which gives a live tiles on the homescreen and another screen will allow you to access to the list of apps and settings. Users can easily brooch any app or contact to begin as a live tile in the homescreen. Notifications from Facebook, Tweeter, Email, Missed calls and Received messages will be visible in the live tiles which are original and far way different from iOS and Google’s Android platforms.

Every Windows Phone 7 supported handset is built with three buttons below the display. These are Back, Home, and Search which are the standard buttons in all devices. You can also directly access to the homescreen while on a running program by pressing the Home button and then press Back button to get back in the application.

Like Adroid and iOS supported smartphones, Windows Phone 7 can also perform multitasking in which users are allowed to open 2 or more applications in a row. It has no exit buttons instead use the back button to proceed to the previous program or simply press home for homescreen. In Mango update, you can long press the Back button to access to 5 recent application used.

Social Media & Cloud
The Windows Phone 7.5 Mango is equipped with social networking apps like Facebook, Tweeter and also LinkedIn. Just like other Facebook on mobiles, you can check in, update status and check your notifications from the ME tile. These apps have their limitations like you cannot delete some post, you can’t reply to all and etc; you need to log on to the official mobile site to do some changes for your Facebook and Tweeter account. You need to go back to the ME tile for you to be updated on comments and other notifications. What makes this ME tile amazing is that it can manage to surf even in a lowest internet speed, 2g Edge.

As you log on to your Facebook and Tweeter account, the Windows Phone 7 will allow you to sync your social networking site’s contact with pictures and information.

Pictures Hub will allow you to scan albums of your friends or even your account in Facebook. Once you had accessed to the photo albums, pictures are immediately downloaded. You can see comments from your friends and reply to its thread using Picture Hub. This makes it suitable to those persons who upload lots of pictures.

What makes it interesting is that you will be entertained by your Live tile with continuous updates on your friends and etc. But for those who are not interested with Facebook or tweeter, user can also experience a photo slide show on its live tile.

The Windows Phone 7 is also equipped with SkyDrive which chucks 25GB of free storage. This will also allow you to access with your Hotmail or Live ID and stores photos and documents for your convenience.

Windows Phone 7 will automatically sync your Google and Live accounts and arranged it on separate tiles – that would give you an individual tile separating your contacts from different accounts. But it can also be integrated, just simply set the setting so you could have multi email accounts on a tile.

You can also switch to different email tabs to read unread messages. The Windows Phone 7 gives the best readability for emails which allows you to dig all your folders and it is equipped with many fonts.

You can also deal with multiple emails by clicking the small checklist button at the bottom – it will show you your checkbox next to email. Checkboxes may also be visible by clicking the left edge of the screen to any email.

Windows Phone 7 is also equipped with Microsoft Office, OneNote and Sharepoint. You can also review and open attachments using the Word or excel and it is smooth to use. In terms of syncing, you can sync your document to SkyDrive and download it back whenever you need it. The Microsoft Office in Windows Phone 7 is much better than on Android app and iOS.

Performance & Apps
Since the beginning of Windows Phone 7, Microsoft has been focusing on its performance in terms of menus, camera & cloud, office, email and etc to work smoothly that matches the speed of the handset. In every updates on other Smartphone OS, Microsoft makes sure in every update that it is working properly and efficient.

Regarding to third party apps, Windows Phone 7 is not quite attractive compared to iOS and Google’s Android OS in terms of Facebook and Tweeter – iOS and Google’s Android OS will automatically open a new browser when a link of a site is clicked when you are in your Facebook account. In Mango update, Tweeter was improved compared to the previous one but it has still bug issues.

About the Marketplace of Microsoft, it is not quite good compared to iOS app store and Androidmarket that give reasonable prices and some are free while Microsoft gives satisfactory apps on a higher cost.

However, we should consider that the platform has just begun and we have to wait for improvements on marketplace especially on applications.

Nokia Windows Phones & package
As iOS and Android have been taking the market place, Microsoft will soon enter the competition with its new partner Nokia. From WebOS and Meego, Microsoft revived itself with all new Windows Phone and this will be a new task for Microsoft. It would a key to produce smartphones with good apps in a low cost for Nokia carrying Windows Phone 7 to succeed. In 2012, Microsoft will unveil its Windows 8 which will support tablets and will be the start of Microsoft foot-step.
